we generally use two types of plasterboard we always want to do the job properly the 1st time. we use 12.5mm plasterboard for walls and ceilings it gives protection from the high humidity areas preventing damage to your kitchen upgrade in the future it is more costly to install but knowing the job is done right gives you peace of mind
The other drywall board we use is 9.5mm it is used as a G.P (general purpose) all-rounder walls and ceilings for all rooms it does not have the added protection for the humidity areas for the kitchen alteration that you are doing so in the future you could possibly have some problems
But the upside is that it costs less for your pocket but it is up to you as a customer to decide cheap and nasty or top quality
